Welcome to Almondsbury C of E Primary School.

All about Almondsbury ...........

Almondsbury CE Primary School is now over 120 years old. The central part of the building is Victorian and is now a listed building. KS1 are housed in a 1960's build with KS2 in a modern and spacious 1990's build. All the classrooms are bright and vibrant.

We are very proud of our school and enjoy celebrating our successes.

Almondsbury CE Primary School Vision Statement

Almondsbury CE Primary School will promote high self-esteem amongst all its members, encouraging a positive and inspiring attitude academically, spiritually and socially. We will develop the whole child whilst valuing and celebrating the children's learning and achievements through enjoyment, creativity, innovation, independence and well being in an inclusive environment.

At Almondsbury we try to make sure the children have the best educational start in their school career. The staff are a dedicated group of people who have the children's needs and learning requirements at the heart of everything they do.

Last year we gained Healthy School status and were awarded a plaque and certificate. We consider this to be of great importance for today's lifestyle. Here are the School Council pictured next to our salad bar which we installed it in 2006. We offer the 2 hours of PE we are required to and have gained Active mark for all our efforts in PE and healthy lifestyles work and learning.

We have a fantastic music department at Almondsbury led by Mrs Ceri Dash. We have two choirs and an orchestra. Nearly 50 children in years 4, 5 and 6 have lessons to learn how to play a musical instrument. There are 9 instruments to choose from.

The children in years 2 and 3 learn how to play the recorder and we have regular concerts and performances.

The choir has won the 'Best Choir' section of the Thornbury Eisteddfod for the last three years. This is quite an achievement. This year the choir received an outstanding score! We also have quite a few boys in the choir. Who says 'Boys can't sing?'

Last year the choir sang with the Harlequin Singers (a semi-professional choir from Bristol) in St. Mary's Church, Almondsbury. This raised over £2000 for our partner school in Kitgum, Uganda.

Our physical education is very good. Here the children are enjoying their Wake up Shake up session on the school field. The children enjoy doing their exercises to the music.

We have successful sports teams and lots of sports after school clubs.

The children have a varied and exciting PE curriculum. We have had various sports, dance and athletics coaches into school to enhance this learning from experts.

The PA have kindly bought the KS1 children a brand new playship to play on at break times. We had a Pirate Day to celebrate the 'launching' of the ship.
